New York Fashion Week (NYFW) kicked off in great style! The Casual Lowdown
Kanye West debuted his Yeezy Season 4 collection for Adidas in Roosevelt Island for an afternoon park show. The collection continued his colour blocking trend with nudes, oversized sweaters and clear boots. Some models walked around the square catwalk whilst others remained for the entire show in the park.
Nicholas K has an “Out of Africa” inspired sleek collection, with nudes, flowing silhouettes and looks that make you want to go on safari tomorrow!
A fabulous collection from Noon by Noor that makes you want to live somewhere where it is always hot (thanks Dubai!). Block colours, in a palette of pinks, white, beige and a touch of black – simple, elegant and effective. Spot on!
Layers layers and more fabulous layers! Thakoon’s Fall Winter entire collection was a success, with me wanting absolutely everything from the catwalk show. The show was set under the New York City stars and the Brooklyn Bridge, with gorgeous pieces and detailing in the warm winter fabrics.
Tommy Hilfiger had a nautical inspired Fall Winter 2016 show on the “Tommy Express”. Gigi Hadid opened the show in fabulous leather trousers and a sea-faring jacket. Pieces from the Tommy X Gigi collection were all over the catwalk! The collection was laid back with oversized jumpers and coats – perfect for cosy winter days.
Rebecca Minkoff had a Fall Winter show in the streets of soho. It was an “IheartNY” theme with laid-back, cool pieces throughout the collection. From the skirts to the jumpers and the incredible leather jackets to the handbags – so many new wardrobe staples that we have to shop for immediately!
Lacoste Spring Summer 2017 was a collection with dressing gown dresses inspired by boxers. Bright colour-blocking and loose fitting layers throughout.
Victoria Beckham had a Spring Summer collection with laid-back effortless style. With velvet, loose fits, layers, summer boots and of course the new tissue bag.
The King of Cool Alexander Wang had a hip Spring Summer show with bikini tops, layers, neons and sequins that shimmer! The accessories were fabulous: sandals with ankle cuffs and neon bags. Alexander Wang also turned Adidas upside down with his collaboration with the brand.
Hood by Air Spring Summer 2017 was a collection of Fashion Fun! From Hustlers to Wenches – glistened make-up looks and boots with backs and fronts.
The Altuzarra Spring Summer 2017 show was full of cherries, trenches, great colours and fabulous accessories. Just marvellous!
Opening Ceremony had a Pageant for the People. With models and celebrities walking together – including the fabulous Whoopi Goldberg. This show was about more than the gorgeous clothes, but fostering love – one world, one love.
Fun, Fun and more Fun at the Jeremy Scott Spring Summer show! From the futuristic sequin disco dresses to the boob tubes and odes to Marilyn! Just fabulous!
Rag and Bone is simply New York City cool at its finest. With block colours for him and for her. Amazing touches, from hats to pops of electric blue and red. Slick and effective fashion.
The DKNY squad was in full force! With New York swagger as the heart of the show, it featured block colours and an inherent, untouchable sense of cool.
Cars, grunge and Elvis singing in the background – all part of the Coach Spring Summer collection.
What would fashion be if it didn’t have fun! The Xuly Bet collection was full of patterns, bright colour and fun! And oh the shades… Just fabulous!

Howdy cowgirl! From the couples walking down with arms linked, to the silk pyjamas and varsity jackets – an all-American show with tons of fun from Anna Sui!
Marc Jacobs Spring Summer 2017 was a space-popping punk fun collection! With candy prints, metallics, hot pants, thigh-high socks and oh the hair! A great show to end a great New York Fashion Week.
