The Met New York Honours Rei Kawa Kubo of Comme des Garcons
The New York Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute celebrates Rei Kawakubo in their spring show “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between”.
Rei Kawakubo is the infamous Japanese designer who founded Comme des Garçons in 1969 and is renowned for her avant-garde creations that have always been both architectural and extremely abstract. Kawakubo is also the first designer to be celebrated, while still alive, with an exhibition at the museum, since Yves Saint Laurent in 1983.
With the exhibition ready… the next event was the Met Gala 2017 and the red carpet magnificence that it brings! Hamish Bowles narrates this History of the Met Gala for Vogue!
